What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that we are better able to manage them. It is also a wonderful way to learn to relax and it can help with many physical and emotional disorders including depression, anxiety, pain and stress.
How will it benefit me?
Regularly practising Mindfulness will improve your mental health and well-being by:
Reducing stress and building mental strength so that you feel more able to manage everyday struggles.
Training you how to manage unhelpful thoughts and low moods.
Enabling you to appreciate each moment of your life and engage fully in what you are doing.
Mindfulness is not specifically focussed on relaxation – the focus is never to fall asleep but to fall awake to live and appreciate every moment. It helps us bring our minds and bodies together to be as one – in harmony with each other and working as a whole. Too often our minds and bodies seem to act separately - how many times do you do something without consciously being aware that you are doing it?
The way we think and the way we deal with our thoughts plays a big part in our happiness, resilience and mental health. Mindfulness helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we're better able to manage them.
Mindfulness means consciously paying attention in this moment now, non judgementally and with an attitude of acceptance and curiosity. When we engage in truly being ‘in the now’ then this is where we really are, not stuck in past guilt or trauma or anxious about the future.
Mindfulness Coaching can be delivered on an individual one to one basis or to small groups in Sutton Coldfield and Telford. It is also available for corporate Mindfulness in the Workplace Workshops across the West Midlands or as a lunchtime training course for business' located in Telford and Shrewsbury.
Calm Minds Workshops take place on a Tuesday evening 7 - 8pm at Wellington Methodist Church.
The Introduction to Mindfulness and Relaxation course is a 6 week (1 hour per week) programme called 'Introduction to Mindfulness and Relaxation'. This programme provides an opportunity to learn numerous different types of Mindfulness Meditation and practices that will enable you to quiet your mind and feel calmer and more focussed.
There are also workshops offered in Telford called 'Calm Minds' These workshops aim to cultivate mindful presence and inner stillness. Weekly sessions incorporate mindful activities, meditation and relaxation which will enable you to rejuvenate your mind body and spirit.
